Booty Babe Art - News / Calendar
(The State of the Art)
May 2013 - RE: Winnie of yjToys.com - As I search for the best solution for producing my next series of figurines I am reminded of the bad experience I had last time I produced vinyl figures: I was approached via email by a vendor from China named "Winnie." Winnie must have found my website among the many independent toy designers listed on my distributor's solicitations. At first this seemed like a winning partnership. Winnie communicated well and I got what I felt was a fair price for the 150 "Santa Fe Senorita" Booty Babe Vinyl figures that can be seen in the "Vinyl Figures" section of my website. I paid for the significant tooling costs upfront and was able to make use of this tooling once again when I produced another 55 (Designercon Exclusive) "Ms. BootyWorth" vinyl figures. Both styles were very well made. In fact I was very happy with the quality. But when I inquired about doing a third run, this time a proposed 250 figures, I received a price quote that was triple the price of my two first styles. When I asked why the cost had suddenly tripled I received no response. I have sent several emails and I continue to get no response, thereby preventing me from further use of the valuable tooling that I paid for. So my warning to any independent toy designers out there is - DO NOT DO BUSINESS with YJToys, also known as Shenzhen Yuanjing Toys and Gifts Co., Ltd. *That is my personal review of their services.

Frankly, with baby and the amount of work, expense, and stress that goes into the long week that is Comic-con, we just decided to enjoy it as guests this year. We'll be cruising the exhibit hall all day Friday and probably Saturday morning.
May 2009 - Booty Babe art statue "Discipline" featured in the feel good hit "I Gotta' Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas(!) Booty Babes have enjoyed a fair amount of press throughout the years but something really tickles me about the fact that one of my statues appears in this music video: http://www.youtube.com/user/blackeyedpeasvideo?blend=2&ob=1#play/all/uploads-all/1/f_2rrxONlLo Look for it at about 1min. in. Allegedly Fergie was so impressed with the doll that she was inspired to die her own hair black upon receiving it as a gift from her hair dresser(!)

April 15th 2008 NEW AFFORDABLE ART- limited editions NOW AVAILABLE! Just in time for warm weather, Booty Babe Art introduces two new limited edition statues featuring the latest body sculpt and pose. Both styles were inspired by the beauty and confidence of Rio de Janeiro where we had the opportunity to travel this past February. "Sunny" is a samba queen and "Bonnie" is a Rio native who spends most of her time at Copacabana Beach; uma garota carioca! Only 250 "Bonnie" and only 150 "Sunny" statues were produced.
Mar. 13th 2008 They took a little longer than expected but new "Affordable Art" styles are on their way. You would be correct if you thought, "Aren't the new Booty Babes supposed to be available by now." (My last news letter mentioned something about this.) Due to circumstances out of my control (or maybe because I was knit picking so that the product will be better than ever) the new styles will not be arriving until mid-April. You will start to notice little changes on the website, here and there, until they are officially available (another news letter announcement will be sent out at that time. If you wish to be added to the mailing list please contact me and request to be added. I do not share my mailing list with any third party.) Thanks for your patience!
Dec. 18th 2007 My LOVE / HATE soap opera with the age of technology continues... MySpace.com SUCKS. Needless to say my profile was deleted on MySpace. What's worse is why it was deleted: Some A-hole posted a "Comment" on my page with what appeared to be a video of some lady shakin' her money maker. (Let this be a lesson to you.) It seemed harmless. So, like a naive fool, I click on it and was directed to the page that says, "You have to be logged in to do that!" So I attempt to log in... again, and again, and again before I realize that my password and login info had been phished. (The domain name of the URL that I was directed to was myispace.com or something close..) Needless to say, soon after I was getting emails from MySpace warning me that I shouldn't allow my "Friends" to post inappropriate content, even though my settings were supposed to screen such comments. And by the next time I attempted to log in I had been vaporized. 1,300 friends in about five weeks.. all gone. And THAT is my MySpace story. My consolation: MySpace offers the opportunity to design a NEW MySpace page(!)
July 26th - 29th, 2007 San Diego International Comic-Con, San Diego Convention Center. We will be listed as "Booty Babe Art" in the program and we will be located at space D 11. Comic-con exclusives will be available but will be VERY limited. I will be customizing them myself so 'how many' just depends on how much time I have between now and then.

April 9th 2005, 7pm - 11pm - MAD*L group art show - The creators of MAD*L vinyl figures have somehow managed to enlist about 50 artists to participate in their group art exhibition. Each of us participating were given a 20" tall, white primed MAD*L figure as a blank canvas. We were asked to customize them in our own way. Some pretty amazing artists were selected to participate so it should be a pretty awesome show. The opening reception will be held at Oulous Repair Shop Gallery : http://www.oulous.com/ (It is within walking distance from Munky King in China town.) "Aphrodisia" - That is the name of the book. It will be a juried competition showcasing art of the female form. I will be involved as both juror and designer of the awards. In exchange you will be getting valuable exposure as an artist, with your contact information published along side your work. The top two entries in each category (painting, sculpture and 3D Digital Images) will also receive trophies designed by yours truly. I believe in this and can't wait to get my hands on a copy of the finished book 'cause I know of many of the super-talented artists that will be contributing. It is an honor to have been selected as a juror among such talents as Joe Chiodo and Frank Frazetta Jr. to name a few(!)
